it's been awhile since i showed off my tattoos. i feel like the scissors need touched up. i want more but am not sure what i want yet. i'm thinking about a dolphin jumping through a ring of fire with some stars and butterflies. (totally kidding. that was not to be taken offensively. do you know how much crap i deal with because of mine?)
day off work; unable to sleep so i woke up early, made cheesecake for tonight's little dinner party, washed the dishes, went to the post office to send letters & spent too much money on postage stamps, ate a croque-monsieur, organized all of my music, downloaded some new music, trudged around in the snow. by the way, the snow today is so light & fluffy it looks fake!
in march i will have had this journal for SEVEN YEARS. holy moly that's a long time.

+ buying birthday presents. well, presents in general.

+ finishing all four seasons of dexter.
+ making mail art & writing letters a little more.
+ finding a roll of film from 3+ years ago. can't wait to get it developed.
+/- sleeping in too much. it feels great but also makes me feel like i'm wasting the day.
- wet socks due to people not taking off their shoes.

jared bought me an ipod touch! for a long time i was really anti touch screen but i like it now. i know i wouldn't want it as my phone though. there is a mad libs app! (and frogger <3)
on christmas morning we opened presents and went to my uncle's house for brunch. egg casserole, fruit, homemade yogurt & cinnamon rolls, mmm! then we played this game called "pass the pillow" which was the silliest game i've ever played. amish always come up with this crazy ideas. christmas was nice but something felt off this year. i wasn't as excited for it, it came really quickly, i was in a blah mood. i'm not sure what was wrong.

it's hard to believe that christmas is tomorrow. when i was younger i remember how long it seemed to take for this day to come every year. now it's just..here! i don't even think about it. the "joys" of growing up. my presents are wrapped and ready to be opened. we're planning on presents at 8am, mimosas! then brunch at my uncle's house.

happy december!
for years i've been saying that i want a pink christmas tree but never get around to buying it. and i'm cheap and feel guilty spending fifty dollars on a christmas tree. on sunday my mom completely surprised me with this tiny tree! and adorned it with twenty-five wrapped presents! i can open one every day until christmas. i love it so much! today i got gum & smarties. so cute. how did i get so lucky to have such a great mom?
last night brit and i decorated some styrofoam christmas trees! those feathers are crazy.
i'm so very excited for christmas. this weekend we're putting our tree up! every year i tell myself that i will make all of my presents for people and it never happens. it probably won't ever happen, honestly. i am a lazy lady. right now i'm listening to fleetwood mac. "say you love me" is one of my favorite songs and i don't care if that makes me lame or not. also working on getting laundry caught up. it seems like i'm always doing this. sometimes i try to figure out how two people can create SO MUCH laundry. i reuse towels/hardly wash my jeans because i hate how they feel freshly washed so i'm not sure what is going on. maybe it's my mom's collection of one million sweatshirts.

+ fantastic mr. fox completely exceeded my expectations. it was so wonderful!
+ having a weekend with no obligations.
+ gingerbread milkshakes from red robin. honestly, i look forward to these every year because they're so good. GO GET ONE.
+ so so excited to watch my favorite christmas movies. home alone, love actually, a christmas story, elf!
+ ordering zines from paper trail distro. i normally trade or buy directly through the zinester. it felt good to be supporting a distro again.
+ making a little matchbox advent calendar for my friend marcie this year!
i would show the contents but i don't want her to see them.
tomorrow i'm going to take a photo of the ridiculously awesome advent surprise tree that my mom gave me today! for now, it's bed time.
